Vibration Isolation for Foundations

  • Large load capacity of up to 20.000 kg (44,000 lbs.) per isolator
  • Low natural frequencies < 0.7 Hz
  • High bandwidth digital electronic leveling system
  • Vertical position-control for automatic part interfacing

Technology
Generally, PD Series isolators from IDE are used to isolate foundations. Those with the greatest load-carrying capacity (PD 3001 and PD 3001 H) also represent particularly economical solutions.

The extremely low natural frequencies of these two series guarantee sufficient vibration isolation in almost all applications, since disruptive frequencies tend to be above 5 Hz. As an added option, PD Series vibration isolators can be fitted with all the elements of TC isolators, so that extremely heavy foundations can match the performance levels of active electronic systems.

When IDE isolators are used in foundations with dynamic movement of a large mass (for example, a CMM measuring bridge), IDE utilizes PID type leveling systems. By installing particularly large servo valves and/or several valves in parallel, we have operated systems with up to 60 PD 3001 pneumatic isolators, while maintaining a leveling system bandwidth of 0.8 Hz.

Another problem in large machine tools and CMMs is caused by automatic part handling systems. Since these parts can, in extreme cases, weigh several tons, bringing them in and out can generate substantial vertical motion.

To avoid this problem, the internal pressure in the pneumatic isolators can be lowered by the PID leveling system. This places the foundation in hard stops and greatly increases the rigidity.

IDE offers several sophisticated software packages that provide easy integration with numerous external control systems.
